G114 Submersible Linear Position Sensor

Description

The Positek submersible G114 linear position sensor is CSA approved for use in potentially explosive gas/vapour atmospheres. The G114 is an affordable, durable, high-accuracy position sensor derived from the G101. Designed for applications where the sensor would be completely submerged during normal operation, it retains desirable features such as compact size, good sensor performance and sealed to IP68 10Bar.

The G114 submersible sensor, like all Positek® sensors, provides a linear output proportional to displacement. Each unit is supplied with the output calibrated to the travel required by the customer, from 0-5mm to 0-800mm and with full EMC protection built in. The sensor is very robust, the body and push rod being made of stainless steel for long service life and environmental resistance.

Overall performance, repeatability and stability are outstanding over a wide temperature range. The sensor is easy to install with mounting options including M5 stainless steel rod eye bearings and body clamps. The push rod can be supplied free or captive, with female M5 thread, or an M5 stainless steel rod eye. The G114 also offers a selection of mechanical and electrical options, environmental sealing is to IP68 10Bar.

Positek intrinsically safe sensors are designed to be used with a galvanically isolated amplifier. Approved galvanic isolation amplifiers (G005) are available from Positek; there is a choice of 0.5-9.5V or 4-20mA transmission outputs.

The G114 linear position sensor can be installed with a cable length up to 1km between the sensor and the amplifier.

Positek offers a range of options for its standard sensors. Each sensor is manufactured to suit each customer's preferences. If your requirement is outside the options given below, Positek can modify/ redesign a sensor to suit your specific requirement. Standard options are available as below:

Measurement Range

Factory set to any length from 0-5mm to 0-800mm in increments of 1mm. For example, if your application requires 10" (254 mm) measurement, then Positek will manufacture the sensor specifically for this length. The mechanical length and calibration will be set up for 254 mm.

Class I, Zone 0
Ex ia IIC T4 (Ta = -40°C to +80°C)
AEx ia IIC T4 (Ta = -40°C to +80°C)
Designates the sensor as belonging to; Class I, Zone 0: suitable for all areas except mining, : can be used in areas with continuous, long or frequent periods of exposure to hazardous gas / vapours. Protection class ia IIC, denotes intrinsically safe for Zones 0, 1 & 2 and IIA, IIB and IIC explosive gases. Temperature class T4: maximum sensor surface temperature under fault conditions 135°C. Ambient temperature range extended to -40°C to +80°C. Approval only applies to the specified ambient temperature range and atmospheric conditions in the range 0.80 to 1.10 Bar, oxygen <=21%.

Galvanic Isolation Amplifier

It is imperative Positek® intrinsically safe sensors be used in conjunction with a galvanic barrier to meet the requirements of the product certification. The Positek G005 Galvanic Isolation Amplifier is purpose made for Positek IS sensors making it the perfect choice. Refer to the G005 datasheet for product specification and output configuration options.

The Positek® G005 Galvanic Isolation Amplifier is available with 0.5 - 9.5V or 4 - 20mA transmission output options or reverse outputs of 9.5 - 0.5 volts or 20 - 4 mA.
